New Whisky Exclusively for Heathrow's T5

Just under three hundred bottles of the Loch Lomond Inchmurrin, Single Cask, 10-year-old whiskies have just been launched exclusively to celebrate ten years of Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5. They will be available at Dufry’s World Duty Free, the travel-retail outlet. Heathrow is Europe’s biggest airport by passenger traffic.

The Loch Lomond Inchmurrin, Single Cask, No. 79 is both sweet and fruity, with a hint of spiciness on the nose. For the palate, there are layers of vanilla and sweet barley sugar, with a citrusy lime and lemony edge, rounded off with maple syrup and spicy mild oak flavours. This single malt was distilled in Loch Lomond’s distillery with one of a kind straight neck pot stills in 2008 in January, and bottled in February 2018 at 57.1% ABV.

The partnership of Loch Lomond Whiskies with Heathrow Airport and the World Duty Free came about as a consequence of the success of Loch Lomond Group’s GTR (Global Travel Retail) sales. The Managing Director of Loch Lomond Group’s GTR, André de Almeida, reportedly said that they were delighted with the opportunity to have created this very special edition Loch Lomond Inchmurrin, Single Cask, which will be highly exclusive and that this had been an excellent “trinity project” for Heathrow, the Loch Lomond Group, and World Duty Free.

The Commercial Category Manager at the World Duty Free, Kathryn Kindness, said that they were delighted to have had the opportunity to offer this unique edition Loch Lomond Inchmurrin, Single Cask, to their World of Whiskies buyers at Terminal 5. Travellers will not get to avail of this bottled cask anywhere else in the world, making this an ideal collector’s choice or to buy as a treasured gift, she said.

The origins of Loch Lomond Whiskies, which was established in 1814, can be traced back to 1772 when the Littlemill distillery, one of the oldest in the world, was established. The present day malt and grain distilleries came up in the 1960s in Alexandria in Dunbartonshire on the banks of the Loch Lomond.
