Bruichladdich Unveils Transparency Bottling at Islay Festival
Bruichladdich will introduce the transparency “2017 Feis Ile bottling” at the Islay Festival scheduled to happen later this week. The distillery will unveil the “heavily peated Port Charlotte NAS single malt” called Transparency. Nearly 1000 bottles will be made available, each priced at £100.
Due to launch on Sunday, each of the Transparency bottle will come with a batch code. The consumers can use this to get access to specific recipe of the vatting. It also involves seven different cask types and 12 casks. A similar system is set to operate with the release of Octomore ‘OBA Concept’ single malt — an offering from the same distillery.
The approach is related to Port Charlotte Scottish Barley and The Classic Laddie expressions. With the launch, Bruichladdich will continue the “transparency” debate in Scotch whisky.
According to sources, Bruichladdich said, “We believe therefore that our campaign for “Transparency” will make a significant contribution to addressing this issue. We also believe that if our clients wish to know the age of whiskies, by proportion, in vattings of Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte or Octomore single malts, we should provide that information.”
The debate around “Transparency” began when the whiskey company Compass Box was warned for breaking the EU law. The firm had revealed the precise make-up of “This is Not a Luxury Whisky” and “Flaming Heart”, back in 2015.
Bruichladdich had voiced their support for Compass Box. Both the companies believe that by revealing “precise recipes”, to the ones who request for such information, they are being complaint to the EU law. The law dictates that only the age of the youngest component of whiskey can be revealed.
