Which is the next whisky on your bucket list?

I really dream for a sip of Whiskey. It can boost up my moods to overcome my weakness so as to perform daily tasks smoothly and confidently. Drinking of whiskey with control amount can provide many health benefits as helping on the ability to aid in weight loss, increase heart health, eliminate blood clots, prevent and manage diabetes, increase good cholesterol, slow down the onset of dementia and strengthen the immune system. A real meaning and taste of a gentlemen life are proven by a sip of Whiskey in a bar. A sip of whiskey can give many surprising results.

My dream of whiskey is mostly based on having it with water. I have always found that adding few drops of water enhances its taste & aroma.

Medically it is a known fact that molecule guaiacol is accountable for whiskey’s aroma. Guaiacol bonds to alcohol molecules, which means that in straight whiskey that guaiacol flavour will be fairly evenly distributed throughout the cask. Alcohol is repelled by water, and guaiacol partially so. That means when a splash of water is added to the beverage the alcohol gets pushed to the surface, dragging the guaiacol along with it. Concentrated at the top of the glass, the whiskey’s distinctive taste and scent is in the perfect position to be noticed by the drinker.

My best dreams and associations of whisky are all related with celebration and festivities, especially once I started working.

No other alcohol would do, and it had to be a whisky, usually Johnny Walker. Unlike the softer stuff which was consumed practically instantaneously, whisky was more meditatively consumed. Folks loved looking at the caramel colored liquid as they would discuss life, events, problems, gossip etc. It was the perfect lubricant for a long conversation and enabled long group discussions as each person gently sipped on the golden fluid allowing the whisky to penetrate their veins and heat their bodies up for another round after short intervals.

As I moved abroad, the journey continued. All expatriate Indians would prefer Whisky, and much to my surprise, even in South East Asia, those of Chinese origin would prefer whisky, best for the same reasons I mentioned. Having whisky at a gathering, also indicated that this was not a casual hangout where folks could just hang out or gatecrash, but more where everyone was selectively invited and had to contribute by participating and not just be an observer or do a small side group discussion. (The Chinese friends could also easily beat Indians hands down in terms of completing an entire bottle in an evening).

My association with the bottle of whisky (usually JW Red Label) therefore is strongly associated with special occasions where time would take a pause with all of us and participate in allowing us to live and enjoy the moment and remember this for eternity.

Alcohol has been around since time immemorial. From the ancient meads to the new age martinis, man always had the reasons and means to explore the ether-world. Whisky, as I see it, is the most layered and mesmerizing of them all. The range of smells and flavors whiskey can offer are unparalleled. From the purity of single malts to the diverse flavors in the right blend, the amber liquid is pure poetry in the flow. Scotland is attributed to be the mecca of whiskey. Being a believer, I intend to set foot in the promised land someday. What a morning it would be, sitting amidst the green fields on a sunny day with a couple of friends and a bottle from a 50-year-old cask distilled and aged in a distillery, not a mile from whence we sit.

Whiskey is a gentleman’s drink, a drink that needs no introduction. Anybody who loves whiskey will understand why I say this. It has been five years since I first tastedwhisky. In the beginning, I always used to think why do people drink whiskey? It has such a strong smell and a worse taste! At that time, being the kid that I was, I preferred a chocolate shake over a glass of whiskey anytime and any day! But when I grew up and actually had my first sip of whiskey, wisdom hit me right in the senses. I truly learnt to appreciate its taste and flavours and it would not be an exaggeration when I sat that I really fell in love with it. My love towards whisky has only increasesafter that and has gone to an extent that sometimes, I even dream of whiskey at night! It may sound bizarre but it is true. However, some people say that it is a very good sign as people as it signifies my desire to achieve my goal and battle the disappointments along the way; nothing can stop me! Well, whisky is really what I dream of in the day time also!:P Cheers!

This is from those good old days when I had started drinking whisky for the first time. And because I absolutely loved it in the first go, I do have to admit that I used to have a peg at least twice in a week besides on the weekends.

Now, If I remember correctly it was a long Wednesday at work and I couldn’t wait to unwind. Wednesdays were generally boring team meeting days, you know, how long and ‘literally’ unproductive they are!

Well anyway, so I decided to take off my shoes and relax on the couch with my favorite bottle of Jameson. No sooner had I finished two pegs, I dozed off thanks to the hectic workday and fine whisky.

And that’s when I had this totally weird dream where I was rowing a horizontally half cut-up bottle of Jameson in a river of Jameson’s!

I kept on rowing until I reached the very tip, from where I Fell into a waterfall and literally drowned in whisky!

Trust me guys, I woke up to a sweat-soaked shirt, and I swear, I drink strictly on weekends now!

Never had I ever thought I could miss whisky so much so that I would end up literally dreaming about it! I can’t stop but giggle away at it now, but well, we all have had our fair share of weird days, or in my case, night!

This is about sometime back last year when I’d gone to stay with a very strict uncle of mine. Now, back at my own place, I was used to being the boss. You know, doing things at my own pace and living the way I want. I also had this habit of having whiskey mandatorily on the weekends! No matter what, I just could not forego my favorite beverage on a Saturday & Sunday! Unfortunately for me, my uncle didn’t believe in alcohol consumption. Worse, I couldn’t even go buy myself a bottle out of fear of being caught!

After a whole weekend without alcohol, and with the other approaching, my desperation finally gave way to the weirdest dream that I’ve ever had.

So, I dreamt that there is this giant bottle of my favorite Jack Daniels that has grown creepy limbs and is chasing me all around in a dark forest. It finally gets to me and picks me up, only to put me inside itself and jiggle the hell out of us both! I finally wake up to my cousin shaking me frantically telling me to shut the hell up and go back to sleep! Crazy right

I Love, whisky, I do! I love it with the bottom of my heart, and the golden drink seems to agree with me too in waking hours.

There is something about my dreams though where whiskey is always out of my reach. Like, I see some of the fanciest bottles ever and right in front of me, but I can never touch them. It’s like I am drooling over these bottles, sometimes even crying for not being able to reach them and feeling helpless but the bottles won’t just come to me.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, my waking hours are my favourite whisky hours

I dream of whisky, and I love talking about my whisky dreams to my friends, and on those rare few occasions, I relay these stories to my family members also making them politer versions of what I really see. The dreams of whisky are always very clear, and somehow I am always a rich guy who has many girlfriends. I have seen myself on a ship with a cigar pressed between my molars and a glass of whisky in the other. In real life, I don’t have a girlfriend, but in this dream, I have three girlfriends - One on right arm and two on the other. The one on the right arm is not more special than the other two. It is because right arm has a whisky, which is why there is only one on the right arm. Another story of one of my dreams, which is famous among my friends is where I am a Sheikh from Saudi wearing their white clothes with my head covered in the checkered red colored cloth and am dancing with all my classmates on a fancy boat and suddenly out of nowhere, hot women come in, each with two glasses of whisky in their hands and approach us to dance with us. Having the whisky is the rule so that we can dance with them.

There are the scary dreams about ghosts, failing in exams, getting reprimanded by your boss and
then there are dreams about the women you love but never get. The best dreams are about
whisky and let me tell you why. You can have the most expensive whisky in the world, more than
to your fill and still not get drunk. You can show off to your one sided girlfriend about your infinite
drinking capacity.
Every time I dream of whisky, I dream of my friends from school and college come together, and
there is a different kind of excitement about these dreams. In all these dreams, it is always
whisky, which makes my friends from school and college come together.
However, unlike reality where I feel I can fly or get taller or smarter or stronger after drinking
whisky, I have never experienced the same things in a dream. For some reason, even when I am
poor in my dreams, my standards with whiskey are rare single malts and always with ice.

You can very well assume safely that dreams about whisky happen when people are

thinking constantly about whisky. In my opinion, it is not all the bad and only shows my

respect, love and strong desire for the golden fluid.

I do dream about whisky, sometimes twice a week and sometimes even more. I am a loyal

whisky fan as it has given me friends and friendships I know I can rely upon. Most times I am

drinking whisky, and it is always tasteless for some weird ass reason. When I offer this

tasteless drink to others, they love the taste, and that always annoys me.

I have often dreamt about drinking whisky when I visit expensive bars and barely touch

liquor to avoid burning a hole in my pocket. I make up for the drinking in my dream I

suppose.

Then there are times when other people, including my friends, are having fancy whisky but

they don't give it to me saying I don't know how to drink. I have stolen whisky from

bartenders in many such dreams.
