. In the last few years Pune has undergone a transformation, from a laid-back and academic city to becoming one of India’s major IT and start-up hubs with a throbbing nightlife and food scene. Here we take a look at the best bars in Pune to have a drink. a) The High Spirit’s Café- A favorite among students and music lovers, High Spirits is one of those few places in Pune which is always buzzing with activity. From regular theme nights, live music gigs and poetry competitions to having the capacity to hold 300 people, this bar has it all. It has hosted India’s major musical acts such as Indian Ocean, Pentagram and Raghu Dixit. Head here for its fun themes, cheerful crowd and affordable drinks. b) The Ship -The Ship is one of Pune’s most popular bars. This resto bar was built using wood from wrecked ships found in the ship-breaking yards and the bar is designed to resemble an actual ship. It has a relaxed ambiance with a fair mingling of young and old. They have different themes for most of the days and an extensive cocktail list which never fail to disappoint. They also host live gigs every Friday. It has an elevated dance floor and there’s a big screen which is always tuned to a sports channel for the sports loving patrons. YOLO has a thoughtful menu with interesting names for their cocktails such as ACDC or Smoke On The Water. It has a relaxed and chilled-out ambiance while the food is pretty well made, with the garlic bread being a special favorite.d) 1000 Oaks- 1000 Oaks is an institution in Pune. It was originally a bungalow which was later converted into a resto bar, and has a wonderful ambiance with a vibrant crowd. It features an outside seating area where full meals are served while the bar area inside serves only bar snacks along with the drinks. BAR BAR Pune. This place is awesome. We were sitting outside, the breeze was light and crisp, the music was loud and they played awesome songs and the waiters wore t-shirts that had awesome messages written on them setting the mood for how the place is fun and casual and yet, the most happening in Pune.

Please be aware that the service in the place is going to be slightly on the slower side on the busiest days considering that there is a lot of rush, but that's ok. The place is a tad bit expensive but the food and whisky are really awesome. Especially, the non-vegetarian dishes! Do try this place. Plus, the more you order, the lesser you pay. You'll realise that when you check out the menu. I was quite high, so I don't remember what I ordered to drink, it was a cocktail. And to eat there were chilli chicken, achari jhinga and junglee fries with chicken. Nice hangout spot with friends.

Once the sleepy pensioner’s paradise, Pune has gone through a makeover of sorts. Credited with having the highest number of pubs in Asia, it is clear that the city likes to kick back, be it with innovative cocktails or craft beers

Here's the list of famous bars in Pune -

1) Stone Water Grill, Koregaon Park

A 60-foot long bar is proof enough that these guys mean serious business. A 25-page bar menu with a variety of exquisite wines, spirits and innovative cocktails further proves the point. The Burnt Bourbon laced with maple and bitters is absolutely divine and so is The New Old Fashioned

2) Hard Rock Cafe, Koregaon Park

Spread over a whopping 7,500 sq ft, this one is similar to other HRCs in the country with its dark interiors and memorabilia galore. Doing full service to cocktails is their extensive menu with gems like the Watermelon Rita and the Hawaiian-themed Bahama Mama, a heady concoction with rum, coconut rum and banana syrup with pineapple and orange juice. You know the drill – go here for good music, carb-laden food goodness and drinks

3) Hoppipola, Aundh

A fun-filled colourful hangout, a great place for meeting friends and for playing a game or two - that pretty much sums up Hoppipola. The bar, which is spread out over the entire length of the indoor area and caters to every palate, is definitely its strength. While you can sip on beer, those who like to try some fun cocktails, try the Chimmichuri Mary vodka based cocktail with coriander, parsley and a hint of lime and Kaffir Lime & Lychee Mojito with litchi chunks and crushed kaffir lime

4) WTF, Viman Nagar

Already popular as a local bar for people in the area, the pub is divided into two areas. The air-conditioned inner section is dimly-lit with comfy sofas, booths, tables to accommodate parties of three or less and an abstract spider chandelier. But the real action happens outside, where you’ll find high tables and wooden bar stools and chairs. The bar menu is basic and covers the standard cocktails, mocktails, shots, hard liquor (imported and local) and beers. If chugging is on the agenda, their Beer Bucket with 6 pints is a good deal

5) The Ship, Kalyani Nagar

For those who’re looking for a laidback time with great drinks and some good music, The Ship is the ideal place to head to. With a boat-shaped bar, The Ship has what is arguably the best Long Island Iced Tea in the city. Their cocktail menu – designed by a London-based agency - is quite extensive and the Lime Margarita served shaken with cracked ice is outstanding. The Ship’s theme nights, namely the Karaoke (Mondays) and Ladies Night (Wednesdays) are quite popular, along with the live music acts on weekends.
